Searching and why we do it!

26th August 2022This is an image

Searching is crucial for everyone's safety! Yours and ours, people think that we search to be kill joys and stop you taking in such items as food or drinks?

The decision if food or drink is allowed in is a venue / event decision and not ours, we are following instructions.

The reason for us to search as security is for everyone's safety and wellbeing, we are looking for illegal contraband, weapons or anything that could be used as a weapon.

We all like to think the person next to us is a nice, honest person and on a percentage scale they normally are, but would you not rather be inconvenienced for a short while for a search so that those that are not honest or nice people are discovered before they enter. Making everyone safer?

In the past we have discovered illegal contraband, an array of items that can be used as weapons along with knuckle dusters, hunting knives, flick knives and much, much more including a club hammer that the person admitted they intended to cause harm to someone at the festival they knew was attending!

So please take this into consideration the next time security anywhere are searching and this feels like an inconvenience, YOU could be that person that falls foul innocently of someone meaning to cause harm!

Soooo much, where to start?

It is hot out today! Hard at it working is Lil Ming, he’s doing a good job. The sun is shinning and the atmosphere is amazing!

What a day, what a weekend that turned out to be, 3,000+ people in attendance for the weekend and all ran smooth as pie. Once again this was only achieved by hard working and vigilant staff.

New project so we can have our own facilities! This is an image

8th June 2022

Just bought this little beauty for us to use and have our own facilities rather than being let
down by event organisers promises! So we have invested in a self contained welfare trailer
we can redeploy as we need.

She needs a little TLC and a service and some sign writing by our good friends @moreprintonline who are always amazing! Happy staff = great staff! Mental health awareness week 2022

9th-15th May 2022

This is an image

I am sure this is open for many different views, but I for one do not like it being called mental health or mental awareness! Maybe just me and my age, but growing up when someone was called mental it was meant an insult and this word still has so much stigma about it and for me it’s in the word mental!

Change that word and it may change how people think about it! Yes we have come a million miles within just a few years helping out nurodiverse people and trying to understand and help those with nurodiversity, but we have SO much to learn and we need to do so much, much more! Get rid of the stigma!

LGBT+ History Month

1st - 28th February 2022

LGBT+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender/transsexual people. However, it is recognised that those four letters do not necessarily include all those whose sexuality is not heterosexual, or whose gender identity is not based on a traditional gender binary. This is an image

The ‘+’ symbol that is therefore used to include people whose identities do not fit typical binary notions of male and female, or who decide to identify themselves using other categories to describe their gender identity or their own understanding of their sexuality. This will include, for example, people who identify themselves as queer (a general term describing people not fitting into existing norms), questioning (people who explore their sexual orientation or/and gender identity), or pansexual (people who are attracted to all sexes and genders). It should be remembered, however, that some people may not want to identify themselves with any existing category.

It is often claimed that LGBT+ people want ‘special’ rights, such as the right for gay and lesbian people to marry and adopt children. LGBT+ rights are not special rights: they are the same universal human rights that apply to all human beings, regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Safety First - Vulnerable Adults

The safety of women and girls is a major concern for many people. The tragic deaths of Sarah Everard, Sabina Nessa and others serve as a reminder that this is an urgent public safety issue we all need to act on.

As an SIA licence holder, people play a vital role in protecting members of the public. All SIA licence holders have a duty of care with regard to people in vulnerable situations, and are trained in ways to identify and report predatory behaviour.

However, we can all play our part in keeping each other safe, If you have concerns about someone's safety you should consider doing one or more of the following:

  • report your concerns to a member of security or the site/venue management
  • seek the help of street pastors or street marshals
  • take advantage of any local or national schemes aimed at keeping people safe, such as 'Ask Angela'
  • in the case of a young person or vulnerable adult, call a relative of the person to help
  • call for a licensed taxi to take the vulnerable person home
  • use 'safe havens' or other local initiatives run by organisations such as St John's Ambulance
  • call the police
